The Art of the Possible

Just saw “Sairat”. It’s been the most depressing since the Syrian chemical attack killing children. Un-comparable event/situation but the movie is a transparent portrayal of honour killing. And because I just “think” about stuff and not “Do” anything about it, I thought let me first gather what are the gravest of all horrendous that disturbs me the most and what ‘could’ be the true solutions to these. As we take birth, there are two things which we deserve. Love and a healthy childhood. And three evils today which deprive selected individuals of these are – ISIS/Syria crisis, child trafficking and honour killing. At least these are the ones which kill me the most! I can’t believe love and children can trigger hatred or crime! ISIS/Syria crisis is outside my physical or rational reach. It just pains me and I know nothing about it other than bits and pieces of story that comes in media. And even though Afghanistan, Syria, Iran etc. had always been countries of extreme intrigue, I d...

Bambino’s trip to Italy

So it has been the bambino’s mom’s childhood wish to go to the land of the good looking fellas. And boy, did she satisfy her wish! They say in Paris a man cannot walk looking straight and in Italy, a woman can’t! Well, seldom I write a travelogue but it was the first time with our 15 month old and it was so much fun I can hardly describe! Rome and Venice was the short and sweet plan. Our Rome apartment was right near the parliament from where mostly all tourist spots were walkable. So the day we landed as our jet lagged son dozed off, we set off with the map to do our touristy stuff. And while we walked, we used Bengali as the language to get around! Oh yes, there are Bangladeshi hawkers all around helping us with the way! Though Paris is considered to be an open museum, Rome is too! A 3000-year-old city still standing strong and beautiful. The beauty of Rome is in its streets which makes you feel the way it must have been millennials ago. Pantheon. Who would say a 2000 year ...

To DINK or not

Now that I have seen both sides of it, let me throw some light on this. There was a time when I liked only some chosen cute kids. I used to hate most of them. I had the believe that giving birth is cruel as its your choice and you don’t know if the soul wants the life, which might be injustice. And life with just the two of us and just money building, travelling and good lifestyle was too hard to let go. Honestly I never understood the term "Bundle of Joy"! Life post parenthood is undoubtedly challenging. 1)       Your time management needs to be excellent to manage everything. For sure motherhood brings in unimaginable capabilities. But life becomes hectic. 2)       If family support is not there, then n number of logistics need to be planned to make things work out safely. Logistics is an everyday issue. And life requires meticulous planning. But then there must be a reason why everyone ends up having a family. So I got...

“It’s hard to dance with a devil on your back / So shake him off”

“All of his questions, such a mournful sound Tonight I'm gonna bury that horse in the ground So I like to keep my issues drawn But it's always darkest before the dawn And it's hard to dance with a devil on your back And given half the chance would I take any of it back It's a fine romance but it's left me so undone It's always darkest before the dawn So Shake it Out, Shake it Out” - Florence and the Machine Last year, saw couple of magnificent movies that I can’t avoid writing about. Key life philosophies beautifully form the intricate lining of these. This song above probably best describes these 2 stunning works of art. So here goes my Point of View on “Room” and “Masaan”.  “Room” is a wonderfully touching movie which tells a story of an abducted girl(Joy) who gives birth to her son in captivity..she is raped everyday  by the kidnapper. When the boy(Jack) is five, she makes a plan of escape and the boy helps her execut...

“Risk is what keeps us young …isn’t it darling?”

I have been hearing stories of how parents of grown-ups (as in engineers/ graduates etc) accompany their offsprings when they get a job in some other city/country. My mom says that’s fine as long as parents have the money and time to do that…..but lately I heard an incident that a girl did not take up a job as she didn’t get a decent long term accommodation in the city. So I thought I might pen down some of my house hunting stories for a perspective and to tell them not to worry…the worlds not as bad, if you got the courage. I have been working outside my hometown since my engineering.. and I had to travel outside the country quite a number of times for work as well. And since I travel for 2 or 3 months, getting an accommodation is real tough but I don’t budge till I get them… And I being a miser, always hunt for a less expensive option with a kitchen (well that’s because I want to eat healthy :) ) Though my first countries of work visit were UK and NZ, searching accommodat...

Go West

Saw Bazaar and Serendipity back to back. You would understand what I mean if you have seen both. Bazaar is an extraordinary movie, portraying Indian methodology of treating women for love and marriage in larger parts of India. Serendipity talks about believing in destiny for finding and falling in love … Its so ironic that even holding up so many correct ways of leading life, Indian methods still and still falter in such critical issues….and its probably not only related to poverty…Bazaar shows both the poverty driven problems of treating girls and otherwise. Girls are either bought or sold in the wedding process still in larger uneducated parts of India…and from what I hear, in educated classes as well.  Don’t know what shall resolve this deep rooted mindset of treating women? Is it money, education or something else? I believe the institution of arranged marriage system is the cause. It creates more problems than solutions…. It has created this wrong mindset in peop...

Mr Google and my journey to Barcelona

Tagore said...."If they answer not to thy call walk alone"..I rather say, when you have Google by your side you never have to walk alone.  It was Easter and the planned work was done by the time holidays fell. Four days in Budapest were very hectic with back to back meetings. Last day I realised everyone around were going on holidays and I shall be alone at home without anything to do ...not even work! Travelling alone for vacation was still a weird concept in mind...then I thought why not? what is the big deal...its mostly seeing new places and meeting new people...why do I always need a company?...so there I went and quickly did the bookings which were notoriously expensive..but worth enough for a new city and its culture.  It was my fifteenth country - Espana....the culture and people always intrigued me ...I think they are very beautiful and speak their heart out..so there I was.. Barcelona from Park Guell Since it was all...

A Fiction of my mind

This one is probably one of the most unjustified stuff needed to be written...but this, I am putting up just because I want to keep it on records that I could ever even think like this...;) You know, as per hypothesis of quantum mechanics, there can be mulitple universes...in the sense, that whatever we observe happens in our consiousness, in our world, in our universe, it is measured/observed and hence we "know" it is happening here , in our universe, whatever else possibilities are remaining , if measured can happen elsewhere. So every moment of our life is what we see to happen here.....Just imagine what are the opportunity of actions, and what forms of lives are being continuously lived and observed elsewhere!!! Duh! It feels like a jumping string...the strong line in the middle is all the probabilities that is our life....the rest vibrations are the measures observed in some other plane..in some other world... Now maybe Mind(all combined souls mind?) is the one who consp...

Objectivism vs Spiritualism

One very close family friend expired. He was not even forty and had a massive heart attack. He was what Ayn Rand's philosophy says "Objectivist". He had a vision to start a company of his own and take it to new heights. He was the chairman of this and had risen to success, like anything in very less time! and this was the end of it.... Isn't it all very meaningless at the end of the day? Living life with passion? what you really want to do against all the odds...the odds result in so much odd stress and physical trauma..in high blood pressure, in losing that very life? It's all so heroic to do it! To live the way you want it to...whatever may come, just do it...make money, make fame , make love, make kids....And after so much of making, it just vanishes. The soul just gets tired of the exhausted body and leaves?? It all ends? Probably this is the reason Vedas had 4 Ashramas of life...Brahmacharya, Grihastha, Vanaprastha, Sanyasa...They had realized that you ca...

Fountainhead..Of Joy

A Bible for me in short I would say...And this is what precisely gives the answers to the previous posts in one way or the other.. If we are egoist why not say it? If we are working to a self-goal even being a parasite, why not say it??Whats the fear? why pseudo altruism?? I think ,our situation is worse than the book's plot!! The kind of life we have achieved and living is so full of dependency, is so full of "Banner"!! It's so scary!! We see fight of Individualism and Collectivism here..Instead we are seeing fight of different levels of collectivism in our new world of 21CN.. Maybe we can't map the book directly into our lives where creativity n the exact happiness is nil. But how I remember seeing one creater's life exactly messed by surrounding Peter Keatings..true that he didnt have quite the integrity n courage to dynamite the so called self-less creatures around him... U know what's the prime fear now? That all of us are not individual Toohey ,Keati...

The Bong connection:

Born and brought up in Bengal...but I can count the days when I listened to RabindraSangeet happily..soundly..with closed eyes... Can count the days when I felt proud of being a bong ,could treasure the values..even when I understood them... Never wanted to marry a bengali lad...n am walking the way I wanted to..n today when am thousands of miles away from my homeland..am just pondering over thoughts..am relying on Youtube to take me back...to where I belong.. Today when I heard.."Ami banglai gaan gai"..it was in tears...but am just thoughtfull, how many back home would feel the same..maybe this is what the irony of being a Bong today is.. Na chahile jare paoa jae Tyagile ashe haate..ami diboshe she dhon haraechi Ami peyechi adharo raate.. Could Tagore fathom this??...Anyways, take care guys n lets pray that we all can reflect in time... P.S.Like they say you should come onsite once to understand the values offshore..I say the same, but only the synopsis is different.

Basic Instinct ..3

I dunno...maybe it's really crap that am writing..or is it just for the sake for writing something new?? Or do I write to solve the defects..again that stupid feel good factor playing...huh!!! More life..more tears...more love...that's all one requires to say that it's going fine... I don't understand..if the prime idea in life has become so concentric to serve ourselves only..how would you be able to breathe after a few years?? I mean, are we all going straight?? If not converging, let's not be just the opposite and lose the compass!! I know that am not so matured to understand how to talk to people, to UNDERSTAND what people's TALK means... I don't understand that being a human is so inhuman at several points...Why we like sad songs? why is love at tears even when it's going strong? why u cry when u r happy?? Why, do we commit the same mistake of working for the wrong people just for money?? Why we have started to believe that money is the sole backbo...

Kar Salaam....

Then there was life in a Metro...and to be precise, everything was available...and you know how confused one gets if so much is there in front of you and you "think" you don't have time... There is love, success, duty; ego n class to maintain; fun, money n love to make; luxury to do,friends n family to have, dreams to achieve and all in just a lifetime. Yeah, and it's not a morning walk..it is a race. And the moments just fly by.... Hats off to Anurag Basu to make it so well crafted and capture it all.So be it chauvanism, coupling of buffoonism and intelligence, coupling of sacrifice and self-indulgence,loneliness in a crowd , unpredictibilty, happy-go-lucky creatures, losers, achievers, finders(!!....hope u guys can map it all) ,this big a combo can only be possble in a Metro... And the songs...Band Metro is awesome, they just made the perfect framework...maybe the songs put one after the another could say it all... "kyun zindagi se ho shikava gila yeh hasti hai r...

Impulsive...N that's it...

Is it the thought that matters??? Well, this one came as a result of seeing some old snaps.Of Vietnam war, a few coups, Iraq war, Somalia n the very first instances of racism.I really dont understand , that why do we at all react to these if its just going to be for the time being..."Oh! how come 'People' are so fiendish??how do they do this to a fellow human"?? Hello!!! why are u bothered...r u going to make any difference? R u going to burn urself protesting against government laws, deaths caused by war n corruption?...r u?Or else ,r u even going to do as simple a thing as donating money for a noble cause...hey why/how come I'll do that...there's corruption in between..the money will never reach the targeted so called poor fortuned!!... One of the snaps shows a missionary holding the hand of a "going to die Somalian kid"...It felt like God is holding ET's hand!!! Others were of Refugees being killed in War, mother pleading to stone-faced soldi...

One world...self-centered...must be!!!

How does it feel to cry...extremely satisfying:-) How does it feel to laugh...blissfull . We all learn in life to be giving, not to be "selfish",to be happy in others happiness n be with the one in despair...this is so very true that doing all these we satisfy ourselves, our conscience, our ego,our hearts are fulfilled...maybe the other's too..but at the end of the episode "I" am the one feeling good:))))....N on "first" thoughts, that is why I did all those!! Sometimes I feel so confused of life...So many people...so many lives...some happy...many others sad..just cause their lives are relatively not better off than the others. We talk of rat race???...Now?? well our entire foundation of living was based on that...we had to struggle for existing...now we struggle for being rich..or in other words, we call it being happy...Yes it is!!! Let's not play with words..let's not play with each other...I might sound ultra-sarcastic...sorry for that...it p...

In the river of no return.......

For those who really never say Goodbye...Dedicated to the countable no. of KANK lovers... Some spend their entire life waiting for "the one", some live their lives loving because they need to, some swindle and go for what they feel is the most lovable, some don't even know what love is.....the poorest of the entire lot...Therefore no question of waiting also....it's so easy for them to live a life but what about those who know, who wait, who doesnt find and who find but can't fulfill..... Remembered a song in this context.. "Why not forget your crazy dream About a love that can’t exist ’coz while you dream so much you miss You waste a lifetime" And understanding this probably one does this... "Why don’t you take a look around Not everyone has settled down But you still think you’re seventeen It’s a crazy dream So take a chance and take your shot No paradise but it’s all we’ve got And I will try to make your dream come true" And what if this tur...

A Little Bit of Love…

'This was written by me a couple of years back...Was due to get published in college souvenier which itself never got published. So now taking advantage of my 'own publication' online...thanks blogspot..' That day my car was stuck in the traffic lights beside a petrol pump. Looking there I saw a little boy of 5-6 yrs of age with filthy clothes , soiled hands ,bare feet leaning on a railing and watching the latest model cars come and go, His small age and little world saw the golden petrol rushing into their ‘rich cars’ tank, the dealing of hard cash and then the quick burning of the fuel to push them from before his eyes in a few seconds. I wondered what might be going through his mind. Was he dreaming ? Or was he repenting of his birth in the streets? Couldn’t afford to get an answer but a deep pain bore into the core of my heart. Its all so blatant but sometimes thinking above everything I ask, Why only a birth of a child is enough to decide that one is going to work f...

Life as a w?hole......

There's a hole in my soul .. You 'can't' see it on my face,'but' it's a real big place.... Never could I percieve that living life would go out of my plans, would even mean that it can just go 'outbound'...It's feeling something like I am going round and round without my knowledge and the centrifugal force is just causing my life to fly away but it can't...and the net result is causing damn stagnancy..... 24 yrs of life and 1 yr of happiness... Don't I deserve better results? Results of my goodness? Of my hopes ? My wishes? Plans I did make . Hopes I did have . Failed to make out fledgility in the luck front! Alas! The monotony is getting high. Dunno what to do to get out of this frustration. All through one's life one dreams of a stable job, a happy family, all set n settled at its place... n even when I have the first condition true[only though, but still at least something n many of you might well understand that this itself is cl...
